Floor Lamps

Decide what it is for. For reading, choose a lamp whose shade sits just above shoulder height when you are seated, so light falls onto the page. For mood, a tall diffused lamp in a corner washes the walls and ceiling with soft light.

Height and scale. Most reading floor lamps stand around 58-64 inches tall. Floor-to-ceiling designs, like the Tero floor-to-ceiling lamp, draw the eye up and suit rooms with clean, empty corners.

Shade and material. A pleated shade, like the Lunara pleated floor lamp, softens the bulb into an even glow. Wood brings warmth and pairs well with linen and oak furniture. The Kasa wooden floor and table lamp is a good Japandi floor lamp if you like a natural, simple shape.

Placement. Set the lamp slightly behind and to the side of a chair or sofa. Keep cables tucked along the wall.

Bulb colour. We recommend warm 2700K bulbs for living rooms and bedrooms, for a relaxed evening light.
