How to choose a chandelier or ceiling light
Size it to the room. A simple rule: add the room's length and width in feet, and use that number in inches as a guide to the chandelier's diameter. A 12 x 14 ft room suits a fixture about 26 inches across.
Over a dining table. Choose a chandelier about half to two thirds the width of the table and hang the bottom 30-36 inches (75-90 cm) above the table top. Long tables often look better with a linear fixture or two smaller ones.
Low ceilings. In rooms with ceilings under 8 ft, choose a flush or semi-flush ceiling light rather than a hanging chandelier, and keep at least 7 ft of clearance in walkways. The Kaze wooden ceiling fan light combines light and airflow in one fixture.
Materials. Wood, like the Kanna wooden ribbon chandelier, adds warmth. Frosted and opal glass, like the Mochi glass chandelier, softens the light into an even glow.
Bulb colour. We recommend warm 2700K bulbs for living and dining rooms, ideally on a dimmer.
