Brand Story
Three People Said the Same Thing. None of Them Could Explain Why.
We had been testing a bamboo pendant for a few weeks when people started noticing something they couldn't quite name. That observation is why we now carry lighting.
We had been looking at lighting for a while without committing to anything. The category kept coming up in customer conversations. People who had built out their space with credō pieces, gotten the bedding right and the tea corner right, would mention that the light still felt off. Not bad exactly. Just not matching the rest of what they had put together.
We were testing a bamboo pendant in our workspace during early 2024. Hung it up one afternoon to see how it sat in the room, left it there, no particular expectations.
A few days later, three different people made the same observation independently. The room felt different. Not brighter. Not better lit. Just different in the evening, in a way that was hard to put into words but impossible not to notice once you had.
Why It Happens
A woven bamboo shade doesn't block light. It breaks it. The gaps in the weave allow light to pass through in irregular patterns, casting warm pools on the ceiling and walls around the shade. The result is shadow as much as light, depth and unevenness, the kind of atmosphere a solid shade simply can't produce.
It's closer to how humans have lit their spaces for most of history. Fire isn't uniform. It flickers, pools, leaves parts of a room darker than others. The nervous system responds to that kind of light differently than it does to the flat, even glow of a standard pendant. A woven bamboo shade is the closest thing to it that modern lighting offers.
Paired with a 2700K warm bulb, the effect is immediate. The room genuinely feels different. That's not marketing. It's what three people said independently before we had decided to carry any lighting at all.
The Collection
Six pendant styles and two wall fixtures, all handwoven from natural bamboo or rattan. Sized for the lower hanging heights that work in Japandi interiors. Standard ceiling fittings, about fifteen minutes to install. Of everything we have added to credō, lighting is the category customers mention most when they get in touch to say something changed in their home.
If you have been putting off the lighting, don't. It's the change that makes everything else you have already done look right.
